And by that I mean a software bug, not an insect.
If you watch the water where it meets the stones that surround the pond, you'll see jaggies. However, this isn't due to the display resolution as I've ran the saver using all settings from the lowest all the way up to 1600x1200 with the same results. You may or may not know about this, but I wanted to mention it just the same. I had intended to post a screenshot, but I don't see that this forum supports image uploads with posts. |

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the note... we've had two or three people comment on this. It's actually a problem with what's called "depth buffering" or "Z buffering" which is a limitation of 3D graphics hardware. We have a little switch we are going to implement which will allow you to activate 32 bit depth buffering, which eliminates the problem for us when we test it (and eliminates certain other visual artifacts that can occur in some circumstances and at some viewing angles). Unfortunately, 32 bit depth buffering doesn't work with some older 3D graphics hardware, and when we used to try to autodetect it, certain NVidia graphics cards would not work properly.
This is one of those places where there's a battle between making things looks perfect to our aesthetic liking and making sure as many people as possible can enjoy them.

I figured it might have something to do with z-buffering, but I wasn't sure. As for older hardware, thankfully my PC is brand new with current top of the line parts (including a Radeon 9800 Pro). I was using nVidia for years, but just made the switch and thus far your saver works great with ATI. |
